Workshop in other techniques

Aussie Cottage, Elegant Vest, Machine Trapunto, Postcards

Aussie Cottage

Aussie Cottage

Aussie Cottage is machine appliqued on day 1. On day 2 you will learn how to add the flowers, trees and shrubs in free motion stitching. Or: choose "Stitch a Garden" if you would prefer to spend two days just learning more about the freemotion stitching.

Elegant Vest

vest

A very easy project. The two front panels and the back panel are each treated as a separate item.

Each panel consists, from the back to the front: lining, fine wadding, main fabric with desig fused, organza. Freemotion stitching is added , panels trimmed and stitched together. It looks as good on the inside as it looks on the outside! Students bring a simple vest pattern to suit their own size, shape and style.

Machine Trapunto

For this workshop, the machine blanket stitch applique is done over extra wadding, which is then cut away. This created a beautiful three-dimensional effect when the final quilting is done. Very easy, very quick.

Machine Quilting

Learn how to do beautiful machine quilting on your domestic sewing machine. It is quick, it is beautiful and it clears your stash of UFOs so you can start another project without feeling quilty.

In the workshop, you have several options: work on a special sample learning lots of techniques or bring a quilt to machine quilt with my help. This is a workshop where you continue from the level you are right now. So whether you have lots of experience and just want to learn more or you have never done any, this is a fantastic workshop for you!

Postcards, ATCs and Inchies

OK, I know you know what postcards are. We work 4in x 6in. They are two-sided, just like a postcard: one side for the picture, the other for the address panel.

But what are ATCs and Inchies?

ATCs are small fabric cards, 2.5in x 3.5in that people make to swap with each other. They can be anything at all and are great to use up some of those odd bits you have in your stash. Learn a few technique on how to make them into stiff cards at the workshop. ATC stands for Artist Trading Cards.

If that size is still way to big for you, how about "Inchies" which are between 1in and 1.5in. You can use them for all sorts of things: just Google either ATC or Inchies and soon you know more of this than you ever thought existed! Pictures will be added soon.
